It's fall...it's apple season, so we decided to head out to Hobart, IN and go apple picking at County Line Orchard. As we were getting ready, we checked the weather channel and it said that it would be overcast and cloudy most of the day, but no rain until 3:00. That was sooo not true. We stopped on the way and grabbed some umbrellas and blankets and decided to try and go anyway and make the most of it. Mother Nature was very kind to us! It sprinkled a little while we were out in the orchards, but for the most part...the major rain held off until we were pulling out of the parking lot to leave! We had to park in a parking lot a little further away, which is fine because you take a tractor pulled hayride to the barn/orchards. So, we grabbed our wagon, threw it on the truck and sat down. Little did we know that Charlotte DOES NOT like tractor rides....at all. She was crying, yelling, "I want to go to my room! I want my bed! I want to get off!!!!" Embarrassing.
We got a couple of their famous freshly baked donuts....apple cinnamon and pumpkin. Yum! The kids snacked on them while we got our bearings and went out to the orchard. Apparently, the crop was not good this year and apples were few and far between. We picked some Sunglade apples and some Enterprise apples...just to have the apple picking experience, but we bought a few bags of Honeycrisp that were already picked...who can resist Honeycrisp apples??
I wish the weather had been a little better, I would have loved to spend more time there and get some really good fall pictures...next time! When we were visiting the petting zoo, Nate was "running on empty" so we decided to pay for our apples and leave. Of course, we had to take the hayride back to the parking lot..but this time it went much better and Charlotte didn't freak out. All in all...a great day! We love doing fun things with the kids together as a family :)
Loving the pumpkins
Dad and Charlotte on the tractor ride back to the car...this ride was much better!
Daddy and Nate
Nate riding his Deere
Snuggled in our wagon eating some donuts...rough life for these two!
Using a large umbrella as a canopy to keep the kids dry in the orchard
Picking apples with Daddy
She would grab an apple and say,"Okay....1, 2, 3....PULL!" and pull it off of the tree.
Mommy and her baby boy having lunch in the barn...what a little snuggly love bug!
Mommy and her babies...I love this pic! (even though we can never get them to look and smile at the same time...)
AND.....as proof that I don't only feed her pure stupidity....here is a picture of Charlotte eating her bedtime snack. Apple picking is hard work, but they are SOOOO yummy!!!
