Wednesday Blog Catch Up

Well, hello blog...my old friend!! I have been neglecting you, but it has been so nice in Chicago...we have been outside and loving it!! Charlotte is on spring break this week, so we are having lazy days, sleeping in, playing outside, riding bikes! Our annoying bird from last year (or a new bird just as annoying) is back...waking the kids up at 5:00 am every morning. So, they both crawl into our bed to sleep in later. Our room has a loud fan that blocks the noise. I finally got an iPhone this week...after 2 long years with my crapberry..I mean, blackberry. So, I have been taking pics and video with that. I have some stuff to show you, but there is no theme, just a mish mash...or dump of all of the stuff I have...but it's better than nothing!! Enjoy!

St. Patrick's Day!!

Here is Charlotte all dressed and ready for school on Friday. Friday was their St. Patrick's Day party and we were the snack leaders. We brought Irish soda bread, butter, grapes and strawberries for the kids to snack on. It was a great day. The kids were all excited when the "leprechaun" turned their milk from white to green!

Here is Charlotte with her St. Paddy's day crown she made
Charlotte doing a little Irish dancing...oh lord!
Playing outside in the sandbox..it was close to 80 degrees!!!
Here is Charlotte trying to make one of her classmates laugh..she is such a character!
Where does she get this from??
Happy!!

On St Patrick's Day, it was SO gorgeous out!! It was the warmest St. Paddy's in 114 years. So, we decided to do a get together at our house with Kevin's family. The kids were so excited that her aunts and uncles were coming to celebrate!! Here are some pics from Saturday!

Irish Babe!
I made Irish Car Bomb cupcakes for the event...they were a Guinness chocolate cupcake filled with Jameson chocolate ganache and topped with a Bailey's Irish cream frosting...delish!
I also made Irish cake pops...they were Kelly green cake inside!

I had to throw this picture in...this is Charlotte's new routine every morning..she lays her clothes out (Shoes, socks, bows, headbands and all) so she can see what it will look like on. Then, she gives her approval or her no. She calls it "making her puzzle." Where does she get this behavior from??

We have Wheels!!!

We broke down and bought the kids a new toy today! Our neighbors got their kids similar cars and our kids have been drooling over them even since. We figured it was going to be a LONG summer of our kids watching on the sidelines...so, today, we got them their own. To be honest, yes...it is me living vicariously thorough my kids...I wanted these things so bad when I was little. I circled them every year in the Toys R Us catalog. But, I lived on a busy street...we live in a Cul-de-Sac where there isn't a lot of traffic. They were so surprised to see them when Kevin brought them home!

Charlotte took to it right away!
Nate, not so much!

My Sillies

I was in Charlotte's classroom today to take some pictures. I am in charge on the annual memory book for her class. It's pretty fancy...40 pages! So, I need to go act as the Early Childhood paparazzi every now and then to get some pics for the book. Here are some pics of her at action at school!

Making a "potato person" after listening to a story about a man in Ireland who grew a magic potato

Not the best picture, but it shows her purple plaid Toms...love them!!

Nate sporting a pair of pajamas that truly sum up his personality. To prove this, let me give you an example...we were at our friends house this week and he proceeded to take two of their remote controls and throw them in their fish tank... I found out today that they work...but, oh my God, I was so embarrassed!!!
Charlotte passed out on the chair after school today...too much fun for her!

I was uploading all of the pics from Char's school today and Nate started screaming, "Mommy, take a picture of me!!!!!" Music to my ears...

It's Not What You Think....Really!!!

Over the last few weeks, I have had several "Oh God, let me explain" moments because of things that Charlotte has said... I really hope that people take things that a 3 year old says with a grain of salt!

Example #1 - When I lived in the city, I fell in love with my hair stylist, Joel. I followed him to two different salons...you know how hard it is to find a good stylist!! When I told him that I was moving to Downers Grove..he informed me that his mom lived in nearby Hinsdale and that he visits her every week. So, he offered to come to my house and do my hair so that I could continue to have him do it. It's a win-win! Well, Charlotte and Nate used to be shy and not overly welcoming to him. They would kind of hide in the playroom when he came over. But, now they know Joel...and they know he is super fun and awesome. They don't leave him alone from the time he comes in until the time he leaves. He came by last week for my normal cut and color and when he was done, Charlotte had set up a "tea party" for all of us in the playroom. So, Joel was nice enough to play along for a while and enjoy the tea party. He's so nice :) Later that day, I was dropping her off at preschool and when her teacher came out to get her, she said, "Hi Charlotte, how is your day going?" She said, "Great! Mommy's friend Joel came over to the house this morning and we had a tea party.." I kind of nervously laughed and followed it up by saying, "Yes, I am so lucky that my hairdresser, Joel, comes to my house to do my hair...nothing makes you feel better than fresh highlights!" Thanks, Char...let's tell everyone that Mommy had a male friend over that morning! FYI...anyone who knows Joel knows, I'm not exactly his type...if you get where I am going.

Example #2 - While waiting for gymnastics to start this week, Charlotte took a drink out of her sippy cup that I brought with us and she loudly says, "Mommy, this tastes like wine!" Oh God. I just hung my head. I mean, how do you even explain that away. How would she know what wine tastes like and why would she say that? She went into gymnastics and it took my like 15 minutes to figure out that she had just brushed her teeth before we went to gymnastics and her sippy cup contained raspberry lemonade crystal light (I SWEAR!). Well, we all know how lemonade or orange juice tastes after just brushing her teeth. But, it was too late...everyone there thought I was a terrible mom.

So, blog readers....promise me one thing. When you hear a toddler exclaim something that seems a little off...before you judge, realize there may be a perfectly reasonable explanation for it! And, I swear...I am not having an affair with my hairdresser and I am not giving my child wine to get through gymnastics!

Ready for Opening Day!

Charlotte wanted to wear her Red Sox shirt to school today...she's excited about the new season :) Even if it is a little early... Since we didn't have actual Red Sox...we settled for Red Shoes!
